Trocador alternative: swapping Monero (XMR) directly
Trocador is an aggregator: it compares quotes from partner exchanges, and you swap with the one you pick. SilentXMR is a single swap service for Monero. Here is how the two approaches compare.
The short version
- Trocador: compares floating and fixed quotes from many partner exchanges, never holds your coins, and adds no fee of its own. Each partner has its own rules, and Trocador rates them from A (no KYC) to D (may hold funds until verification).
- SilentXMR: one service and one published price: Kraken's last price minus 0.5%, locked with no expiry. No name, email address or ID requested.
- Pick Trocador to shop around between exchanges, or for coins and fiat options SilentXMR does not have. Pick SilentXMR for a known rate and one set of rules from start to finish.

What Trocador is
Trocador describes itself as software that lets you choose between exchanges and trade directly with them. When you enter a swap, it searches its partner exchanges for the best rates; you pick one and send your coins to an address generated by that exchange. Its terms say Trocador "does not ever take custody of your funds, even for a second". It is run by Reta Development Assets LLC, and besides swaps it offers prepaid cards, gift cards and a fiat gateway that compares partners for card, bank transfer and other payment methods.
Trocador says you pay nothing extra for using it instead of going to the exchange directly: its referral commission comes out of the exchange's fee, and all fees are included in the rate shown. It shows floating rates, which are an estimate and get re-priced when the exchange confirms your deposit, and fixed rates, which an exchange may still refund instead of honouring if the market moves too much. Minimums depend on the partner. Trocador says a few accept trades as small as $10, while many have higher minimums.
Because the swap runs through a partner, so do any ID checks. Trocador's FAQ says each exchange may halt a transaction and demand KYC/AML verification, and its terms say some partners may require KYC and some may not. To help you choose, it rates each exchange from A (no KYC) to D (may hold the user's funds indefinitely until verification), based on their terms, how they handle refunds when someone declines verification, and their history on Trocador. The Trocador Guarantee reimburses you up to an insured amount if you don't receive your funds and the exchange can't show an unusually high AML risk; D-rated exchanges are not covered.

Swapping to XMR directly on SilentXMR
On an aggregator you compare quotes, pick an exchange, then follow that exchange's process. On SilentXMR there is one quote: Kraken's last price minus 0.5%. Questions
Is Trocador an exchange?
No. Trocador says it is software that compares partner exchanges and lets you swap directly with them. It never takes custody of your funds: the partner you choose receives your deposit and sends the payout.
Does Trocador charge a fee?
Trocador says you pay nothing extra compared with using the exchange directly. Its commission comes out of the exchange's fee, and all fees, including network fees, are included in the rate shown.
What do Trocador's KYC ratings mean?
Trocador rates each partner exchange from A to D. A means no KYC; D means the exchange may hold your funds indefinitely until you pass verification. It bases the rating on the exchange's terms and privacy policy, how it handles refunds when someone declines verification, and its history on Trocador.
Can a swap through Trocador be stopped for KYC?
Yes, by the partner exchange. Trocador's FAQ says each exchange may halt your transaction and demand KYC/AML verification before completing it. SilentXMR does not ask for a name, email address or ID.
Is a Trocador fixed rate guaranteed?
Not fully. Trocador's FAQ says that if the market moves too much, the exchange may refund the transaction instead of going ahead with the quote. On SilentXMR the amount is locked when you create the order and does not expire.
Which is better for small swaps?
Trocador, if a partner accepts your amount: some go down to $10. SilentXMR's minimum is $50 worth of the coin you send. Questions about a SilentXMR swap go to service@silentxmr.com.
