Monero (XMR) wallets compared
There is no single best Monero wallet: it depends on your device and how much control you want. Here are the common ones, with every detail taken from the wallet's own site, docs or code.
Quick answer
- Desktop: Feather (light, remote nodes, built-in Tor) or the official Monero GUI (can run your own full node).
- Phone: Cake Wallet (iOS and Android, many coins) or Monerujo (Android).
- Hardware: Ledger and Trezor (Model T, Safe 3, Safe 5, Safe 7) work through wallets like the Monero GUI, Feather or Cake. Trezor Suite itself does not support Monero.
- No longer available: MyMonero closed on 6 January 2026, and Exodus ended Monero support on 18 August 2025.

The GUI and CLI seed is the official 25-word mnemonic. Feather and Cake can restore 25-word seeds too.
On a computer: Feather or the Monero GUI
Feather is a light desktop wallet. It connects to remote nodes from a curated list by default, has Tor built in, and supports coin control, view-only wallets and Ledger and Trezor devices. It has no built-in buying or swapping. See our Feather Wallet guide.
The Monero GUI is the official wallet from getmonero.org. Its Simple mode connects to a remote node; Simple (bootstrap) and Advanced modes download the blockchain to your computer, which getmonero.org's FAQ put at about 225 GB in full or about 86 GB pruned as of 2024. getmonero.org strongly advises verifying the hash of whatever you download.
The Monero CLI is the command-line version, aimed at developers and advanced users.
On a phone: Cake Wallet or Monerujo
Cake Wallet runs on iOS and Android (and macOS and Linux), holds many coins besides Monero, and offers in-app swaps and purchases through outside providers. Cake itself charges no fee to send or receive. See our Cake Wallet guide.
Monerujo is an Android-only Monero wallet. It has swaps through Exolix built in and works with the Ledger Nano S series over a USB OTG cable. Its last release was in June 2025.
Stack Wallet is a multi-coin wallet with Monero support on desktop and mobile. Its built-in exchange charges what its site calls "a tiny fee" alongside the exchange providers.
Hardware wallets for Monero
- Trezor: Safe 7, Safe 5, Safe 3 and Model T support Monero through other apps: Cake Wallet (on Android all four; on iOS the Safe 7 only) and the Monero GUI and CLI. The Model One doesn't support Monero, and Trezor Suite doesn't either.
- Ledger: Ledger's Monero page says to connect your device to a compatible third-party wallet and names the Monero GUI. getmonero.org lists the Ledger Nano S, Nano S Plus and Nano X. Feather's docs also list the Stax and Flex.

Wallets that no longer support Monero
- MyMonero ended its wallet service on 6 January 2026. Its site says you can restore your wallet in Cake Wallet with your Monero seed.
- Exodus ended Monero support on 18 August 2025. Its support article explains how to import the wallet into another one, such as Cake Wallet.
How to choose
- Device first. Desktop users usually pick Feather or the GUI; phone users Cake Wallet or Monerujo.
- Remote node or your own. Remote nodes are quick to start. Running your own node with the GUI means downloading the blockchain but not relying on anyone else's node.
- Monero-only or many coins. Feather, the GUI and Monerujo hold only Monero. Cake and Stack hold many coins.
- Hardware wallet. Check that your exact model is supported by the wallet you pick.
- Back up the seed on paper and download wallets only from their official sites, checking signatures or hashes where they are published.
Get Monero in your own wallet. No account, no ID.
- Kraken's live price minus 0.5%. You see exactly what you get before you send.
- Your rate is locked the moment you create the order. No countdown, no re-quote.
- BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, LTC or SOL in, XMR out to your address. Or the other way round.

Any receive address from your wallet. Standard addresses start with 4 and subaddresses start with 8, and the Monero docs suggest using subaddresses. SilentXMR accepts both.

If you hold BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, LTC or SOL, swap it on SilentXMR and paste your wallet's receive address. No account is needed, and the minimum is $50. Questions go to service@silentxmr.com.
